block (to stop something from moving or flowing through something): The waste pipe was blocked. Don’t block the road with your car.

clog (to block or become blocked): Fallen leaves clog the drains in the fall. The hair in the shower clogs up the drain.

choke (to fill a place so that movement is difficult or impossible): The weeds choked the stream.

stop up (to fill a hole so that water, smoke, etc. cannot go through it): The tank is losing water; I need something to stop up the leak.

plug (to fill in a hole with something): I used cement to plug the hole in the roof.
