abandon (to leave a place especially because it is impossible or dangerous for you to stay): The ship was sinking, and the captain gave the order to abandon ship.

desert (to leave a place, so that no one is there): Many people desert the area due to bad weather.

vacate formal (to leave a seat, room, or house so that it is available for other people): You should vacate your room by noon on the day of departure.

evacuate (to leave a place because it is not safe): Residents have evacuated the area because of the fire.
